Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on the start of the week after intense storm systems swept through the area, producing wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Locals reported large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the widespread outages.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, around 1,000 households in Victoria also experienced power outages after Melbourne recorded its wettest day in 18 months.
Rescue organizations responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both states.
