Her Royal Highness's Traditional Festive Carol Concert Spotlights Community Volunteers

Her Royal Highness has organised her customary Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey, with attendees featuring dignitaries, stars, and everyday helpers who have made a difference in their neighbourhoods.

The large audience will hear a mix of carols, music and readings from stars like award-winning actors.

Centred Around Kindness and Compassion

The focus of the concert, held in the candle-lit Abbey on Friday, is compassion and demonstrating care for others.

In the audience are a couple named the Cordiners, whose young girl was lost to a tumour, and who set up a charity, a support fund, to aid parents with a terminally ill child.

"The time, care and compassion you give, often discreetly and without words, and without any thought of thanks or praise, make an profound impact to the well-being of people," the Princess expressed in a message before the festive gathering.

A Gradual Return

The Princess of Wales is continuing her own gradual return to the public eye after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, last month delivering her major oration since 2023, in which she talked about recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".

Music and Opportunity

Those coming to the Abbey will be entertained by budding artists aided by the charitable trust Future Talent, co-founded by the late Duchess of Kent to widen access to music lessons.

An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who is a trumpet player and is from southwest Wales, has been supported by the charity, with grants helping towards instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "incredible" to be playing at tonight's service.

"Musical pursuits are frequently pricey," she stated. She is now a student at the Royal Academy of Music, and added that "each individual ought to be given the possibility" to cultivate their performance abilities.

A Sisterly Duo

Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who is a euphonium player, will be present at the Abbey. "I never thought I'd be able to play there in front of so many important people," she said.

Among the guests will be people from various age groups.

That will feature young Saphia Turner, nine, honouree of a prize for youthful altruism, who produces drawings and undertakes charity feats to generate funds for community pantries.

Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment

The Abbey has been adorned with custom-created holiday decorations, with TV cook Mary Berry and florist Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.

The musical lineup includes singer Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a nautical singing ensemble, Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "a dream come true."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be broadcast on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
