The Reason the DNC is Hiding their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: A Deep Dive.

This move from the DNC to suppress the public viewing of its internal autopsy report on the 2024 election is stunning yet to be expected. Averse to unpleasant candor, the DNC often functions closer to a publicity machine rather than a political organization devoted to cultivating local power to secure victories.

A Climate Resistant to Internal Critique

Reluctant to challenge the party establishment's culture demanding unity, the committee has remained within that legacy all through 2025. Making public an official autopsy could have demonstrated that party leaders actually want to foster honest conversation about the missteps that enabled Donald Trump to return to the White House. Instead, the leadership is moving forward under the pretense that there's nothing to be learned from the electoral catastrophe of 2024.

"Here’s our North Star: does this help us win? If not, it is an unnecessary diversion from our fundamental goal," a justification which was presented for withholding the report.

Key Issues an Autopsy Would Have Addressed

Any valuable post-mortem of substance would not dodge certain uncomfortable matters. Among them are:

  • Electoral Disenchantment: Failing to retain of a significant portion of the electorate that backed the party's candidate during the previous election became a critical factor in the narrowly decided recent race.
  • A Choice to Seek Re-election: The determined insistence by the incumbent to run again, and a very late exit, has been criticized as denying Democratic voters of a genuine choice.
  • Failing Everyday Americans: Amid inflation, the campaign reportedly accommodating corporate donors' interests while failing to challenge the role of profit-seeking.
  • A Gaza Effect: An unwillingness to reconsider a policy position on the situation in Gaza is cited as losing significant blocs, notably among youth voters, Arab-Americans, and Muslim Americans.
  • Eroding Young Voter Allegiance: Research shows a major drop-off of Democratic support from the youth electorate.

A Record Avoiding Accountability

This refusal is consistent with a recurring tendency of sidestepping uncomfortable facts. It echoes an episode where the vast majority of Democratic officeholder in Washington supported an incumbent's determination to seeking another term until a poor public debate performance led to an exit.

At the same time, a significant majority of the electorate were continually telling pollsters that they did not want the incumbent to run again.

Financial Issues

A substantive analysis might also investigate questions about where money went, including what sums were directed to party strategists as well as media firms during an electoral effort that managed to spend a colossal amount in a short period.

The Broader Implication

At its core, the blockage surrounding this report highlights a deference to the established hierarchy responsible for a disastrous national race. The implication for ordinary supporters – including countless small donors – is that they do not have a right to know the lessons party chiefs have learned from an analysis based on feedback from all states.

A party unwilling to honestly assess where it went wrong is unlikely to escape the pattern that ended up being so helpful to the winning candidate.
